Looks like
Apple is leaving no stone unturned this year to bring its new iPhone models on
time to shelves. Last year, the firm brought its iPhone X a bit late in the
market, leaving many fans waiting for weeks. This time, as reported by
Digitimes, Apple is expected to begin with trial production of the 2018 iPhone
series by Q2 at the earliest.
The report,
citing sources from Taiwan-based IC design houses, adds that Apple is hurrying
up as it doesn’t want to ‘repeat of the mishap caused by the initial low yield
rates on production of 3D sensor modules for those models introduced last
year.’
The 2018
iPhone model component suppliers are said to likely see a growth in orders by
Q2 this year if Apple plans to deliver the handsets in early Q3 itself. The
report re-confirms previous claims that there will be three smartphones
launched this year as well. The series is expected to feature two OLED screen
iPhone devices with 5.8-inch and 6.4-inch panels and a 6.1-inch LCD screen
model.
There are
certain reports indicating that the iPhone X may get retired as soon as the
next-gen iPhone X and the other two models hit the market. It is said that
lowering the price of the iPhone X won't make much sense for Apple so it might
just stop the production of the particular device.
All the
three iPhone smartphones are said to feature what was one of the most touted
features in the iPhone X, the Face ID. All three are also said to feature the
same design as the current generation iPhone X. This means they could have an
aluminium build, same display and back panel design.
Not only the
design and Face ID features will stay the same but also the controversial
'Notch' at the top of the screen. For now only the iPhone X comes with a notch
unlike the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus.
